Saturday, May 2, 2026, 7:30 pm
Hering Auditorium

Yonder Mountain’s compelling original music and anything-goes attitude cultivates a spirit of collaborative improvisation that fuels today’s progressive bluegrass and jamgrass scenes. For 25 years, band members Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals) and Nick Piccininni (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, vocals) have shown themselves to be undeniable innovators and pioneers of the genre.

The band celebrated the quarter-century mark with a Grammy nomination for their 2022 album Get Yourself Outside, and was recently honored with an induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.

Blending bluegrass with elements of rock, alternative, psychedelic and improvisational music, Yonder Mountain String Band brings their high-energy acoustic sound and light show into rock ’n’ roll settings, proof that a bluegrass band can excel in a rock world — even without drums!

“There is ample reason why Yonder Mountain String Band has become one of the leading practitioners of modern bluegrass. An astute combination of melody and musicality make them an obvious example of the way today’s musical tastes inform bluegrass music’s contemporary impact.” — Bluegrass Today

“Yonder Mountain is a powerhouse quintet that can knock the door off its hinges at any function around, yet still can produce patient and exploratory solos dressing up songs that consider the universal human condition.” — Americana UK
