Discover the many ways FCA supports music education and outreach in our communities
Donating to the Education Partnership Program directs your gift to support education and outreach.
These activities include school performances, classroom residencies, workshops, and masterclasses with professional touring artists for K-12, university, and community members. Other activities involve bringing artists to organizations that, for example, focus their time and attention taking care of our elderly, teach specific skills (cirque, theater, arts), engage young detainees, offer services to low income families, or connects us to diverse minority groups in our community.
Alaska 529 is funding FCA’s Education Programs for the 2023-2024 season.
School Shows
Offering live performances to K-12 students
FCA offers several school shows each season, thanks to a collaboration with the Fairbanks Arts Association’s Fairbanks Arts and Cultural Education program. For many students, FCA’s school shows are the only way they are able to see live shows.
These performances give students from throughout the district a unique opportunity to engage directly with renowned musicians and other performing artists from around the world.
Inside the Classroom
Personal encounters that profoundly engage students
FCA works closely with local teachers to get artists into the classroom, where they might offer a workshop, a demonstration or personal instruction. It lets students ask questions and learn about the artist and the passion that drives them.
On occasion, FCA artists invite local students to perform with them onstage, for a concert that illustrates the power of marking art together.
Rural Outreach
FCA goes beyond Fairbanks to bring the performing arts to other communities in the Interior.
The benefit is mutual: Smaller communities get to host renowned artists, and artists get to see a side of Alaska they might not otherwise see.
