Sunday, April 4, 2027, 4:00 pm
Davis Concert Hall
Sponsored by the Bill Stroecker Jazz Foundation
JazzReach and its acclaimed resident ensemble, Metta Quintet, bring to life the legacy and music of Miles Davis in this riveting performance of Miles Davis and the Blue Flame Incident. The second half of the concert will feature a special appearance by student musicians fresh off an intensive three-day masterclass with Metta Quintet.
This multimedia production explores Davis’ trailblazing career and features music from some of his most creatively fertile periods, including his controversial foray into electric music in the late 1960s. Using jazz and 20th-century American history as a backdrop, this retrospective celebrates one of the most compelling artists the world has ever known.
For more than 30 years, JazzReach has led the nation in educational jazz programming. Under the guidance of Metta Quintet, which features some of today’s most esteemed, creative jazz artists, this concert will include an ensemble of area jazz students who will join the quintet to perform additional songs from Miles’ songbook.
