Securely ranked among Scotland’s most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts, Breabach unites deep roots in Highland and Island traditions with the innovative musical ferment of their Glasgow base. The band is beloved for their blend of Gaelic and Scots songs, Highland dance, and youthful fire that recharges ancient tunes with modern energy.

In addition to releasing seven acclaimed albums, Breabach fuels their creative appetite by collaborating with the likes of Indigenous Australasian artists Moana and the Tribe, Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord, video game composer Big Giant Circles and as artists in residence at the Celtic Colours festival with Cape Breton band Beòlach.

Their globe-trotting travels have taken them from the Sydney Opera House to New York’s Central Park. They have racked up an impressive array of accolades, including multiple Scots Trad Music Awards and nominations as Best Group in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and ‘European Album of the Year’ in The Songlines Music Awards, plus Musician of the Year for Megan Henderson.

Breabach is made up of Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals, step dance), James Lindsay (double bass, vocals), Calum MacCrimmon (bagpipes, whistle, bouzouki, vocals), Conal McDonagh (bagpipes, whistle, vocals) and Ewan Robertson (guitar, vocals, cajon).

“As polished as it was passionate, matching fiery intensity with exquisite finesse, this was a magnificent set.” — The Scotsman

“Breabach is in an electrifying new phase – one that illustrates the band’s strength and interest in experimentation. Exhilarating, energetic and accomplished.” — Songlines
